boy scout project – row by row + giveaway

hello Monday!

boy scout project update
today I thought I would return to my boy scout project and give you an update…

boy scout quilt
I knew I wanted to use this cool constellation neckerchief for the center…
one GREAT tip I received from my long-arm quilter was to use woven fusible interfacing for the neckerchiefs to give them more body…
oh my goodness, this was the BEST advice!
they lay so nicely and are a dream to work with!

boy scout project
since my brother-in-law wants this as large as I can, I will be adding borders of the Kona after each round…

boy scout project
here you can see that I have patches sewn together with a neckerchief at the end of the row…

boy scout project
I also began to experiment with using patches with the same size, but different backgrounds in each round…

boy scout project
I also decided to pull apart a sash with a red embroidered arrow and added it to one row…
I am looking forward to building on this…
I really think it is going to look pretty awesome once it is finished…don’t you??

giveaway
and the fabric scrap giveaway for today…
spy something fun??
leave me a comment to enter…
I will announce a winner on Friday…

Happy Sewing!

The Boy Scout piece looks great. Thanks for mentioning the using interfacing with kerchiefs. I sometimes pick them up when one catches my eye. I save my scraps and recently found such an excellent inspiration for piecing them into quilt blocks. the improvisation appeals to me. Thanks for blogging. I sure enjoy visiting here.

All scraps are fun, especially when they are from someone else’s stash and not what you have previously used and perhaps are tired of looking at. I love when I go to a local guild quilt show and they have boxes of scraps for sale, so much fun to see what you can find and then so much fun to continue when you start using the odd shape scraps.
