cutting up t-shirts

hello Monday!

cutting up t-shirts

it always amazes me how a bunch of old t-shirts can be transformed into a great quilt!

see what I mean??

this is about where I am in this project…

I like to use this quilt I have as a size guide to help keep the t-shirts corralled a bit…

I have a a few more designs left to put borders on and then the fun begins….

Happy Sewing!

Brooke, do you back your t-shirts with any particular product to stabilize them? I’ve been thinking the time is right to clear out a boat-load of “special” t-shirts, but feel hesitant to start. Do you sew with the usual 1/4″ seam and a straight stitch or do you make any other allowances for the knit fabric? I’ve never sewn with knits before and am nervous (as you can tell!). Thanks for any advice.

Love how you surround your T-shirt blocks with matching borders. Looking forward to your progress on this. My daughter has saved many T-shirts and is hoping I will make a quilt with them some day ;)!
