designer flaw + giveaway

hello Monday!

designer flaw
today we are continuing with our Wonder series…
click here to read the last post…

the fabrics in this picture were what I wanted to use as my first project…

designer flaw
I really fell in love with these butterflies…
and was swooning over the triangle print…oh those colors had me by the throat!

designer flaw
I thought I would make up my fun little plus runner pattern….

designer flaw
however the more I worked on this project, the more I didn’t like how it was turning out…
I loved the fabrics, but something just wasn’t right…
I realized the butterfly print was not going to work in this pattern…

designer flaw
so I scraped it and when instead with this combination…
oh..yes, that looks much better!!

so my lesson was that even seasoned piecemakers can make fabric combination errors…

giveaway
and the scrap giveaway for today…
spy something fun??
leave me a comment to enter…
I will announce a winner on Friday…

Happy Sewing!

I agree with your second fabric selection…much more pleasing to the eye.
I love the little tease of Sesame Street fabric in the scrap pile!

That butterfly fabric is so pretty, but yes, definitely did not show your quilt pattern well. I love all the blues in the scrap pile!

i really like your second choice. this is very pretty. yes the butterfly’s need a bigger space. I agree, we all make mistakes, it is however how we handle them that says a lot about us. Good for you.

Like the second choice better. Projects do not always evolve as we picture them in our heads. Well, at least not for me. Thanks for the opportunity to enter the giveaway.

The yellow butterfly fabric blended into the yellow plus too much. Great fabric choice with the turquoise fabric. I love the triangle fabric.

Now why won’t I love them both but you of course are so right about the second is the best by far. I love that aqua print. all the scraps look like fun to me! Have a great day!!

The change created a knock out look for the plus pattern. Great insights to fabric choice Brooke! I spy Sesame Street…:)

I don’t know who designed the dark blue/black on the far right, but I like it!

Your project photos today are great examples of what works and what doesn’t–showing that it’s not about good or bad fabric, since all of that fabric is great, but some of it is a better choice for this design.

I definitely spy some selvages!!! I’ve been saving them for a collection to eventually do something with. That would be fun!

  17. Lulu May 23, 2018 at 9:03 am #

Yes, the last project is much better!

I loved your runners but what is the point of giving us only a few seconds to see the clear picture before it “blurs”?
