Hooray for finishes, Brooke! And your photo absolutely captures the PNW vibe. My dad was born and raised in Aberdeen, WA. He moved to Southern CA, which is “home” to me, but eventually John and I moved to rural Oregon, about 5 minutes from the Columbia River and 45 minutes from the coast. I think my dad would have been really pleased to see me here; in his later years he said he would have moved back to Aberdeen but that my mom would have missed the sunshine too much. 🙂

I think most of us just have a sense of home, from wherever we grow up. Mom was raised on a farm in Iowa, and when she and I took a driving trip it was a revelation to see how easily she identified every crop in every field, and delighted in how well they were doing at that point in the season.

Well, here I am–filling up your comments with my visiting. Once again…

That was fun to see this post. I miss you, and love you so much. I finished the quilting on my “feather” quilting project and now am at the binding stage. ~Mom
