bump to baby bibs and burps + giveaway

bump to baby precuts
hello Wednesday!
welcome to the next stop on the bump to baby blog hop!!
bump to baby
I enjoy giving handmade bibs and burp cloths as shower gifts for new babies…
so I thought I would share a few tips…
bump to baby
select a few prints to use for burp cloths…
bump to baby
I like to back both my burp cloths and bibs with chenille
bump to baby
cut a 10 inch wide strip, trimming off selveges and cut to 21 inches, or as close as you can
bump to baby
lay print right sides together on chenille pin in place and
bump to baby
generously cut around the print rectangle
bump to baby
using a walking foot sew around the outside edge leaving an opening to turn right side out
bump to baby
trim off excess chenille and clip corners on the diagonal to reduce bulk when turning
bump to baby
I like to use a bamboo pointer to help poke out the corners
bump to baby
press and pin opening closed and then top stitch
bump to baby
I then toss these in the washing machine for a quick wash on warm to make sure the final burp cloth is ready for action with no extra fuzzies!
bump to baby
ready to make some bibs??
bump to baby
here are my fabric selections along with some fun trim…
bump to baby
my bib pattern is about 14 inches x 10 inches, so I cut my yellow piece 5.5 x 11, print piece 6 x 11 and the orange dot 3 x 11 and sewed them into one piece
bump to baby
there are lots of free patterns available or design your own
here are my three bibs tops…
bump to baby
using the pattern of your choice, pin and cut out…
bump to baby
I sewed the ric rac on after I cut out the bib pattern
bump to baby
next place bib right sides together on chenille and follow the same directions as the burp cloths…
bump to baby
sew with a walking foot around the outside edge leaving an opening for turning…
bump to baby
trim close to stitching for easier turning…
bump to baby
turn right side out and press ready to top stitch
bump to baby
I also prewash these and then add velcro for closures…
bump to baby
if you would like the measurements for the pink and purple bibs…leave me a comment or email me – brooke@sillymamaquilts.com
bump to baby
Gina has graciously offered a Fat Eighth bundle for my giveaway!!!
how sweet is that??!!!
leave me a comment on what you would make…
I will draw a winner Sunday, March 1st…
