orange you glad batik finish + winners

hello Friday!

orange you glad
today I am super excited to share my finished batik piece with you!
this is a piece I cut out solely on my Cricut Maker!

cutting fabric with my cricut
so you might remember this photo from my blog post talking about how I cut fabric on my Cricut

cutting fabric with my cricut
the pieces I used for this batik project were all 10 inch precuts…
I was able to place them on my fabric mat and cut the rectangles…no problems!

orange you glad
in Cricut’s Design Space…I made 2.5 x 4.5 inch rectangles on my screen and copied them so that it would cut four out of each 10 inch square
before the project is cut, you can select what the size of your fabric is…
so I selected 9 x 12 inches as it is the closest to a 10 inch precut square..

here you can see the four rectangles are cut…

one feature I absolutely love – I can tell it what the sizes of my pieces are and then the size of my fabric and it will determine how to cut them to minimize waste!
score!!

this post on instagram was my inspiration for this project…

all my lovely rectangles all cut and ready to sew together!

orange you glad
so I arranged my pieces and began sewing units together…

my units are complete ready to arrange into a pleasing layout…

after a bit of unsewing and redoing a couple of units…this is my arrangement…

tadah!!!
here is my finished piece!

I used the awesome pineapple batik for the back, so it is really two-sided!!

This quilt is sew pretty!! I think I’m beginning to fall in love with batiks. So far they’ve stayed on the wall (meaning I didn’t buy any) but I am beginning to notice them more and more when I shop for fabric.

Those yummy batiks still remind me of sherbet!

A nice way to highlight the Cricut, such precise pieces. I like the look of rectangles. My stash is way too short on orange.

That’s pretty cool that the machine can cut to reduce waste. Great feature.
